Social democracy and colonial bonapartism in Brazil: notes on the bourgeois autocracy in the 1995-2006 period
Anderson Deo

Abstract:
The analysis we present tries to understand the particularity of Brazilian social democracy in a moment we identify as the process of its consolidation. In discussing the determinants of this particularity, we analyze the way the bourgeois autocracy reproduces itself in this country, which has unfolded historically in a form of bonapartism. Thus, we understand the 1995-2006 perod as a historical moment in the consolidation of the social democratic project in Brazil, in which bourgeois legality is consolidated under the hegemony of the financial sector of capital, reproducing the country’s colonial bonapartism.

Keywords: Social democracy. Bourgeois autocracy. Colonial bonapartism.
