Abstract:
In this article the author examines the participation of women in the Paris Commune. Who were they? What role was played by the anarquist revolutionary Luise Michel? What was the participation of the socialist Elizabeth Dimitrieff, sent by the International Workers’ Association? What was the significance of the Commune for women’s struggles for their rights? Beyond making femininst demands, the women of the Commune set up barricades against the bourgeoisie, demonstrating the class character of their struggles.
