Abstract:
In this article we attempt to demonstrate the timeliness of the political teachings of the Paris Commune. In the traditional Political Science literature, and partly also in the Marxist literature, the Commune has been used as a parameter to evaluate the revolutionary quality of states. But the Commune also offers a measuring stick for the weaknesses and failures of “actually existing democracies” in capitalist societies, contributing in this way to demonstrate the democratic fetichism that holds up liberal democracy as the only possible democratic organizational model for the state.
