Abstract:
In this article we discuss, fundamentally, the limits of Ecuadorean “semi-proletarian” struggles, based on the theoretical understanding that the actors organized around the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador (CONAIE) are not wholly subordinated to capitalist expropriation. Therefore, they are not direct producers of value added. We understand that without the joint protagonism of the more combative proletariat, through the revival of its parties and unions, attempts at socialist transition tend to fail, as has occurred in some instances.
