| This paper analyses the connections between Althusserianism and anthropology. In the first part, it presents the Althusserian critique of philosophical anthropology, as well as the Althusserian thesis concerning the incompatibility between Marx’s early philosophy, which was impregnated with idealism, and the principles of historical materialism. In the second part, it argues that some elements of a materialistic and historical anthropology appear in some writings of the Althusserian current. In the third part, the paper argues for the importance of searching for an exact connection between materialistic historical anthropology, broadly defined, and the laws of historical materialism.
